Appointments usually run for one hour, however, please allow a little extra time for your first appointment as it can sometimes run longer.

Once your appointment is booked, I will send you an intake forms to complete before we meet.

What to Expect From Your First Session

The first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and to begin thinking about what you would like from therapy.

We may talk about:

  • What has brought you to therapy at this point in your life.
  • The difficulties or challenges you are experiencing.
  • What you hope will be different as a result of coming to therapy.
  • Your strengths, supports, and what’s already helping.
  • Whether talking therapy, creative approaches, or a combination of both feels right for you.

There is no pressure to share everything in the first session, and we will work at a pace that feels comfortable.

Fees

The full fee for an hour long session is up to $170 however there may be subsidies available through a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, your Insurance, Employment Assistance Program, or the NDIS. If you intend on using a funding program to pay for some or part of the therapy, please make sure you have confirmed your eligibility first.

For the remainder of 2026, there is no gap fee for people attending under a Mental Health Care Plan. This means there is no out-of-pocket cost for Medicare-funded appointments.

A cancellation fee may apply if you do not attend your appointment and have not let us know in advance.

Medicare and Mental Health Care Plans

If you are planning to use a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), please make sure that you ask your GP for sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

While creative and art-based processes can be incorporated into treatment where clinically appropriate, Medicare does not currently fund Art Therapy as a standalone service.

Your GP can refer you for up to six sessions initially. After these sessions, if we think additional support would be helpful, I can provide a short report to your GP requesting a further four sessions.

Art Therapy or Mental Health Social Work?

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Professionally Registered Art Therapist, I can offer both conventional counselling and creative approaches to therapy.

Some people prefer to talk, while others find that drawing, image-making, or creative activities help them explore thoughts and feelings in a different way. Many people choose a combination of both.

Importantly, Art therapy is not an art class and no artistic experience is required. The focus is not on making good art but on using creative processes to support reflection, understanding, and wellbeing.

Together, we can work out the approach that best suits your needs

Still Have Questions?

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely okay if you’d like to have a conversation first.

If you would like to have a chat before booking, please feel welcome to get in touch.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in finding an approach to therapy that feels right for you.
